Davis,

Mamie R., 78 nee Forbes of Hoboken, N.J. passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27 at the Hoboken University Medical Center. A retired packer with Maxwell House Coffee in Hoboken for 35 years, and was also a very dedicated New Jersey State Home Health Aid. Her life revolved around her work experiences but her heart was always with her loving family. Mamie loved to read and express ideas through interior design.

 

Born July 24, 1939 to the late Viola (Forbes) and William Forbes. She leaves to mourn her passing 2 cherished sons, La Salle and Robert Davis, III, a cherished daughter, Rhonda Johnson and her husband Harry and their father former Hoboken Police Officer Robert Davis, Jr., a brother Jimmie D. Forbes, a sister Twana Braxton and a sister in-law Annie Forbes. A great joy in her life were her 6 grandchildren, Rashawn, Kimisha, Logan, Autumn, Draven and Serenity; as well as 8 endeared great grandchildren. Mamie was the proud godmother to Val Cromer, Alberto Valentin and Kinisha Ladson. Five siblings predeceased her, brothers Joe, Norman and James, sisters Mary Lawrence and Van Hines.

 

Friends and relatives are invited to share in a celebration of her life at the Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, 533 Willow Avenue, Hoboken on Saturday, August 5 beginning at 2PM and concluding at 4PM. Valet parking is available in rear of memorial home off Sixth Street.
